ITS Asia Pacific appointment
October 08 - The selection committee of ITS Thailand appointed AsiaCongress as the management company for ITS AsiaPacific 2009 in Bangkok. The exhibition and Congress will atract traffic technology specialists from all over Asia to discuss trends and technology to speed up the traffic in the region. The event is key for the development of the industry.
AsiaCongress India opening soon
July 08 - AsiaCongress is in final talks with partners to establish AsiaCongress in New Delhi. Teh deal is likely to be completed by early September after which details will be announced. Management is excited aboutn the prospects, and after 2 years scouting the Indian market the proper partnership will be formed. AsiaCongress has tendered for the acquisition of various trade shows and will take over a series of congress management contracts in the country.
New EU Contract Awarded
July 08 - The European Union awarded its 3rd management contract to AsiaCongress. The company will be responsible for a series of event for various industries ranging from climate change to agriculture.
KENES International is new partner
February 08 - World's leading medical congress organisers, Kenes International is the new partner of AsiaCongress. With the MP/WEO partnership having formed the Singapore based KENES MP Asia, AsiaCongress will be one of the supporting organisations to the venture as well as leading the KENES development in Thailand and Malaysia.
Marcel Ewals, Managing Director of AsiaCongress is also a board member in the new Kenes MP Asia, to ensure the intergration into the group of companies.
Thailand Nutrition added to World Congress
April 08 - The Thai Nutrition Association awarded the 2008 national congress to AsiaCongress. AsiaCongress already works with the industry on the World Congress Nutrition in 2009.
ASEAN Energy Business Forum to return to AsiaCongress
March 08 - The ASEAN Energy Business Forum, organised through the ASEAN Center of Energy, was awarded for the second time to AsiaCongress. PTIT Awarded the contract to organise together with the ASEAN ministerial meeting this August.
GasTech raving success
March 08 - The Bangkok edition of GasTech, the global trade show on natural gas trade hosted by PTT Group, was lauded as a raving success. All records were broken, with nearly double the attendence (nearing 12,000) of which 73% was international. The exhibition grew with 10,000 sqm requiring 2 extra halls at BITEC and exhibitors in all corners concluded that the event was a great success. Proof of the success is the rebooking for the next GasTech in Abu Dhabi, which practically sold out all key space during the event.
European Delegation extends SPF contract for 2 more years
September 07 - The Delegation of the Euopean Union renewed its contract for the marketing and dissemination of the SPF (Small Projects Fund) in Thailand. The project duration will be 2 years, similar to the first rund of SPF, started in 2004 by AsiaCongress.
Caterpillar enters into multi year contract with ACE
July 07 - Caterpillar Asia engaged AsiaCongress to manage for several years the annual internal training for SE Asia. AsiaCongress managed the CAT training last year, and was nominated at the leaing organiser among the regions logistics providers of the training. Other trainings take place 3 other countries in Asia.
IAAPA sign multi year contract with AsiaCongress
July 07 - After the succesfull completion of IAAPA Shanghai in 2006 and IAAPA 2007 in Bangkok, AsiaCongress and IAAAPA signed a multi year contract for the management of the IAAPA Asian Expo. The Exhibition of Amusement Parks and Attractions travels around Asia, and is scheduled for Macao in 2008. This will the be 3rd event for AsiaCongress in Macao, next to the AESIEAP in October and CEPSI in October 2008.
AsiaCongress takes stake in Thailand Millionaire Expo
July 07 - Eurasia Entertainment and Events and AsiaCongress signed an agreement in which AsiaCongress becomes is minor stakeholder in the Thailand Millionaire Expo (TME). TME 07 will be the first millionaire argeting event in SE Asia, with many mainly elite European and US brands showcasing their selective products and services to the invited visitors of the Expo. AsiaCongress shall provide logistical services for TME.
AsiaCongress signs for hi tech back office with Ungeboek
July - AsiaCongress signed the agreement with Ungerboek, the world's leading event managment software provider, to provide the EMBS back office event management software. AsiaCongress would be the first EBMS client in the organiser category in Thailand to make this step. Other clients are the major venues who already opreate the software for venue management.
AsiaCongress proceeded with the investment because its regional clients demand transparent control and instant reporting, with on line web integration. Only a few softwares provide an integrated service like EBMS.
EWALS to become WEO Executive Director
April - Marcel Ewals has been appointed as the Executive Director of World Events Organisation (WEO). A veteran in the Asian trade show industry for the last 18 years, he is concurrently Managing Director of AsiaCongress Events, which has offices located in Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur. He has been a Council Member of WEO since 2003 and also sits in IAEE’s Asian Exhibition Council.
James Chia, Chairman of WEO, said, “We are delighted to have Marcel take on an expanded role. He will focus on the expansion of the WEO network by developing new events and acquiring show titles that will increase the group’s trade show portfolio in major growth markets such as the Middle East, India and China.”
IAAPA Asian Expo 2007

GASTECH 2008 Bangkok moves to 5th hall
April 2007 - AsiaCongress and DMG Media announced that the exhibition sales for GASTECH 2008 have exceeded expectations and that it has outgrown the 20,000 sqm reserved for the trade show. It has now taken a 5th hall to allow expansion of the exhibitions. DMG estimates that the congress will have a similar outcome with an anticipated 2,000 delegates.
CEPSI (Conference for the Electric Power Supply Industry) returns to AsiaCongress after 8 years!
April 2007 - The President of AESIAEP, Mr Marcelino appointed AsiaCongress as the organiser for the 2007 AESIAEP CEO forum and the 2008 CEPSI confenence and exhibition. It has been 8 years since AsiaCongress organised CEPSI 2000 in Manila and CEPSI 1998 in Pattaya. "The Macau organising committee wants to esure the traditional format and quality standards of the event that were changed in China in 2004 and Mumbai 2006 be returned, so the event can continue towards its traditional growth" said Marcel Ewals, Managing Director of AsiaCongress. He added that the internal experience with the event was retained and the key managers were still with the company.
CEPSI is one of the most prestigious association events in Asia, which is attended by the top tier of the power generation and distribution industry. Its exhibition, hower small (around 3,000 sqm gross) is one of the most premier exhibition spaes, asking between 800 and 1,000 US$ per sqm.
CEPSI is expected to welcome 2,000 delegates from the power industry in Asia and the Pacific regions.
4th IAAPA Asian Expo 2007 scheduled to be sold out!
April 2007 - The International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) is anticpating the June show in Bangkok's Royal Paragon Hall to sell out. The hall is 20% larger then the previous show in Shanghai on 2006. Bookings have been coming in steadily with 40% from Asia (inlcuding more then 20 exhibitors from China) and the rest from the USA and Europe.
The 5th and 6th IAAPA Asian Expos will be held in Macau (Venetian) in 2008 and Beijing in 2009 respectively.
AsiaCongress Bangkok also moves into PICO building
April 2007 - Just like AsiaCongress Malaysia, AsiaCongress staff in Bangkok will move to the other side of town to it's new offices in Bang Na. AsiaCongress which ventured in 2004 with PICO's MP International, is an associate company of PICO Thailand. The move is part of the integration and streamlining of the company within the PICO network of offices in 24 countries. AsiaCongress operates in China and India through the local MP offices and in other locations through PICO's local branches.

Marcel Ewals, becomes MD for World Events Organisation
March 2007 - Singapore based World Events Organisations has appointed Marcel Ewals as its new Managing Director. WEO, or the World Events Organization, is the umbrella organization of 15 trade show and conventions Organisers and venues in Asia, spanning from Dubai to Shanghai. WEO is part of the PICO group of companies.
Mr. Ewals will focus on the expansion of the WEO network by developing new events and acquiring show title of the group’s trade show portfolio in the middle east, India and China. In addition, he will retain his status as Managing Director of AsiaCongress Events located in Bangkok. Mr. Ewals brings along 18 years of trade show management experience to WEO.

12th APLAR Congress 2006 exceeds targets
August 2006 - The 12th Congress of the Asia Pacific League of Associations of Rheumatology (APLAR) held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center from August 1-5, 2006 exceeded targets by 10% with over 2,000 registered delegates from 60 countries and almost 3,000 square meters net of exhibition space.
“We are very pleased with the final turnout of the event and appointing AsiaCongress as our PCO was the best decision we ever made”, says Dr. Yeap, the lady President of the Malaysian Society of Rheumatology, the host of the event.
“The APLAR Congress 2006 was our inaugural event in Malaysia since we opened our branch office in Kuala Lumpur middle of 2005. Satisfying the client and ultimately having a successful show were critical for us in entering the Malaysian market, says Marcel Ewals, Managing Director of AsiaCongress Events Co., Ltd., the organizer of the event. “With the new, world-class Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, we hope to organize more international events in Malaysia”, added Ewals.
The 13th APLAR Congress in 2010 will be hosted by the Hong Kong Society of Rheumatology.
